Okay, as my first official post, I will tell you about the Internet Service Shop who also known as Net Cafe, or Internet Rental, or InterNet Cafe or "Warnet" (Warung Internet) as in Indonesian Language.

Oh, even I call it Net Cafe, it's not actually a Cafe which selling food and drinks. Just normal computer rental with Internet Connection Service :)

Few years ago, the presence of InterNet Cafe are few. But now, you could find it almost everywhere in Jakarta. I have count 8 InterNet Cafe around the current Net Cafe which I regulary visited.

In Indonesia, Net Cafe pricing are based on hourly usage with minute time unit. So, minimum you should use the sevice for a hour. But of course, different owner will using different method.

From the previous picture, across the road, this is another Net Cafe


For example, Net Cafe near my Friend campus using minimum usage of 30 minutes. When you Log In for the first time, you already charged for 30 minutes of usage. After 30 minutes, then the billing system will charge for each minute, not another 30 minutes. Some other Net Cafe also using 15 minutes time unit. This method will charge the user for every 15 minutes.

From the previous picture, turn left and walk 15 meters, another Net Cafe, and walk another 20 meters, another Net Cafe available.


However, this kind of bussiness strategy cannot be implemented in this current situation. Since the presence of Net Cafe now already alot. The owner using different strategy. For example, the Net Cafe I currently visit.

Walk for another 5 meters, this Net Cafe available.


This Net Cafe using hourly usage with minute time unit. It's 5000 IDR (around 43 cents). You are requested to deposit your money at minimum 5000 IDR into their billing system. You will have Username and Password to log in.

From the previous picture, turn your self for 180 degree, there's another Net Cafe available across the road :)


After they gave you your Username and Password, you can log in. And the billing will start to count for every minutes. However, unlike the previous billing model I have told you above, you will not loosing your money even you only use it for 5 minutes.

Again, from the previous picture, this time walk for another 80 meters, you'll find this Net Cafe. But this one is unique. Since Windows License fee are pricy, so the owner using Linux :D


Since you already got Username and Password, you can use your deposit money anytime you like and in separate time, aslong as did not reaching the expired period. If you deposit another money to your account, your expire time also getting far.

I you thinking this is just look like Pre-paid cellphone, yes you're right.

The famous INVERTED CLOCK ! The youngling who visit the Net Cafe turn the Clock upside down. Why? They hate to be remind it of how long they already online, hahahaha XD


Also, the amount of money to deposit into your account also resulting diferent time of usage. For example, If you deposit 5000 IDR, you'll get 80 minutes of usage. But IF you deposit 10.000 IDR, you'll get 180 minutes of usage (you got 20 minutes of bonus). Deposit more money, got more bonuses :D

Some Net Cafe also offering "Night Package". This package usually offered at saturday night, start from 23:00 until 07:00. With this, you only need to pay 15.000 IDR.

May be you thinking, who would using Night Package? Simple, Gamers. Yup, Online Gamers will use this opportunity to leveling or farming XD
